As a new mom, we often take for granted that our baby will hear our voice right away after birth (and even spend hours during pregnancy talking to our unborn child in hopes it will help them bond to us more quickly).

So imagine the heartache that can happen if your baby is born without the gift of hearing.

While it doesn't make you love your new child any less, it does make it more difficult to bond with your baby, not to mention future implications of how they will understand and communicate with you and the rest of your family.
